Custom error messages (PRO)

Updated October 4, 2026 1 min read Plugin v1.1.0

Goal: replace the default wording with something in your own voice.

Steps

  1. Go to Password Protected → Settings → Messages.
  2. Incorrect password message — replaces “Incorrect password. Please try again.”
  3. Lockout message — replaces “Too many failed attempts. Please try again in {minutes} minutes.”
  4. Click Save settings.

Using the {minutes} placeholder

In the lockout message, {minutes} is replaced with the actual remaining wait:

Too many attempts. Please wait {minutes} minutes, or email su*****@*****le.com.

Leave either field blank to keep the built-in wording.

Both fields are at Settings → Messages and both are optional. Leave them blank to use the built-in wording.

Setting Default wording
Incorrect password message “Incorrect password. Please try again.”
Lockout message “Too many failed attempts. Please try again in {minutes} minutes.”

The lockout message supports a {minutes} placeholder, replaced with the actual remaining wait time.
